Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU/PACU RN requiring high-acuity PACU and ICU experience, Cerner proficiency, and a compact or MD RN license.
Details
- Work in the ICU and PACU units of a hospital setting
- Provide care for pediatric PACU, Phase I, Phase II recovery, and pre/post-op patients as well as ICU patients
- Patient ratio of 1:2
- Uses Cerner EMR system
- Day/Evening rotating shifts (10 or 12-hour shifts)
- On-call required approximately one day per week, with possible 5-6 call shifts per six-week period on a Day/Evening rotating weekend basis
- Weekend shifts required approximately 2 per 6 weeks
- Floating to cover ICU required
Requirements
- Active RN license (Compact or MD) required
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS
- Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience within the last 7 years required
- High-acuity PACU experience required
- ICU experience required
- Pediatric PACU, Phase I, Phase II recovery, and pre/post-op experience required
- Cerner charting system experience required
- Must have completed at least one prior travel assignment
- Must pass the Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with a minimum 80% overall score and 100% on lethal rhythms
- Two supervisory references required, including one from the most recent assignment, supporting at least 2 years of experience in the previous 3 years
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care across ICU and PACU settings, including pediatric and pre/post-operative recovery
- Skilled in respiratory care, cardiac monitoring, IV therapy, and medication administration including antiarrhythmics, anticoagulants, and vasopressors
- Experience with arterial line management, dysrhythmia recognition, and central line care preferred
- Scrubs provided
- Local candidates within 60 miles accepted at a lower pay rate
- No RTO permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment; maximum of 7 days RTO per 13-week contract
- Previous MedStar employees must have been separated for at least one year before returning as a traveler
- Manager interviews are not guaranteed; candidates should be comfortable proceeding without one
- First-time travelers are not eligible; at least one prior travel assignment is required
