Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced OR RN for a 13-week acute care hospital assignment requiring robotic surgery experience and an active AK RN license.
Details
- Work in the Operating Room department of a Magnet-designated acute care hospital with 152 staffed beds
- Day shift schedule with variable start times (4x10 hours, 6:45 AM""5:15 PM or 8:45 AM""7:15 PM), including weekends
- Required to work every Saturday or Sunday, with third shift on weekends being variable
- On-call required based on unit needs, including weekends
- Floating required within scope to meet facility needs
- Uses Cerner charting system, with EPIC experience preferred
- Navy scrubs required (provided for OR and L&D units)
Requirements
- Active AK RN license required prior to starting (compact license accepted at time of submission)
- Minimum 2 years of OR nursing experience required
- Current BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
- Robotic surgery experience required
- Some trauma experience required
- Experience with code response, fire safety, malignant hyperthermia protocols, electrosurgical equipment, arthroscopes, and laparoscopes required
- Skills in general surgery, orthopedic, urology, and thoracic procedures preferred
- First-time travelers accepted
Additional Information
- Provide circulating and scrub nursing support across general, orthopedic, urologic, and thoracic surgical procedures
- Assist with robotic-assisted surgeries including colorectal, gynecologic, neurological, orthopedic, urologic, and TORS procedures
- Perform duties such as blood product administration, specimen handling, wound management, and urinary catheterization
- Participate in emergency management protocols including fire safety and code response
- Must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be considered; local candidates not accepted
- Candidates must not have worked at this facility as staff within the past 2 years to be eligible as a traveler
- No restrictions on requested time off (RTO)
- Complete annual and onboarding training modules (approximately 4-5 hours) via HealthStream during orientation
- COVID vaccination compliance required per facility policy
- Free parking available in the on-site parking structure
