Description
American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift position requiring at least 1 year of experience and Epic proficiency
Details
- 17-bed Med/Surg Tele unit with a 1:4 patient ratio
- Receives patients from the Emergency Department, Medical ICU, clinics, outside hospitals, and nursing facilities
- Treats a wide range of medical diagnoses including diabetes, sickle cell crisis, COPD exacerbations, ESRD with pulmonary hypertension, and patients with wounds, drains, and tubes
- Night shift, 4x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:00
- Every other weekend required
- Must work 2 of the 3 winter holidays
- 36 or 48 hour weekly options available
- Block scheduling cannot be guaranteed
- Must adhere to facility float policy and float within scope of practice as needed
- Uses Epic EMR
Requirements
- Active VA or compact RN license required (pending license accepted if in-hand by the Wednesday before start date)
- BSN preferred
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
- Epic charting experience required
- BLS certification required, ACLS preferred
- Prior charge nurse experience preferred
- Teaching hospital, community hospital, LTAC, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
- Experience with 1:5 patient ratios preferred
- Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, central line blood draws, and PICC line management
- Skills in respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, high flow nasal cannula, and ABG interpretation
- Experience with wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE
- Experience with cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation/management
- Experience with pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure care
- Two professional references required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care on a busy Med/Surg Telemetry unit within an academic teaching hospital setting
- Complete specialty-specific orientation modules during onboarding
- Maximum of 40 hours RTO per 13-week contract, with all time off disclosed at time of consideration
- Time off around Labor Day cannot be approved
- Any vacation time planned between sign date and start date must be disclosed to arrange an appropriate start date
- First-time travelers may be considered
- Previous employees of the health system as permanent staff or travelers must have a 1-year separation before returning, subject to leadership approval
- External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days at this facility and are not eligible to return once this threshold is reached
- No radius restriction for this unit
