Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring BLS certification and Epic EMR experience.
Details
- 12-bed MS/Tele unit with a 1:4 patient ratio
- Patient population includes respiratory illness, renal illness, diabetes, sepsis, cellulitis, infections, heart failure, sickle cell, and cystic fibrosis
- Day shift, 4x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
- 13-week assignment with every other weekend and every other holiday required
- 36 or 48 hour options available; block scheduling cannot be guaranteed
- Floating required within scope of practice per facility float policy
Requirements
- Active VA or compact RN license required (pending license accepted if in-hand by the Wednesday before start date)
- BLS certification required
- Minimum 1 year of recent RN experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- BSN preferred
- Prior charge nurse, teaching hospital, and Trauma Level I experience preferred
- Experience with respiratory care, chest tubes (Emerson/PleurEvac), tracheostomy care, heparin protocols, PCA, cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation/management, isolation precautions/PPE, wound care/wound vac, and IV insulin protocols/titration
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive medical-surgical and telemetry nursing care to a diverse adult patient population
- Manage cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia recognition, and emergency response as needed
- Maximum of 40 hours of RTO approved per 13-week contract, which must be disclosed at time of consideration
- Any planned vacation between offer acceptance and start date must be disclosed to help determine a realistic start date
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Previous UVA permanent staff or traveler employees must have a 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning; external travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days
- No radius restriction applies to this unit
