Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring a VA or compact RN license and Epic experience.

Details

  • 12-bed Med/Surg Tele unit in a hospital setting
  • Patient population includes respiratory illnesses, renal illnesses, diabetes, sepsis, cellulitis, infections, heart failure, sickle cell, and cystic fibrosis
  • Patient ratio of 1:4
  • Day shift schedule (4x12 hours), 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
  • 36 or 48 hour weekly options available
  • Every other weekend required
  • Must work 2 of the 3 winter holidays
  • Floating required within scope of practice per facility policy

Requirements

  • Active VA or compact RN license required (pending license accepted)
  • BLS certification required
  • Minimum 1 year of recent RN experience required
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • BSN preferred
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Trauma Level I experience preferred
  • Previous charge experience preferred
  • Experience with respiratory care, chest tubes (Emerson/PleurEvac), tracheostomy care, heparin protocols, PCA, cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, isolation precautions/PPE, wound care/wound vac, and IV insulin protocols/titration

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care within a Med/Surg Tele unit, managing complex medical and telemetry needs
  • Complete specialty-specific orientation modules during onboarding
  • Maximum of 40 hours of RTO permitted per 13-week contract, must be disclosed at time of consideration
  • Any planned time off between offer acceptance and start date must be disclosed to allow for appropriate start date planning
  • First-time travelers are not eligible for this position
  • Previous UVA Health employees must have at least 1 year of separation and leadership approval before returning; external travelers may not exceed 365 total assignment days
  • This unit does not have a mileage/radius restriction
