Description
American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Pediatric ICU position at a Level 1 Trauma Center, requiring 2+ years of PICU experience and BLS/PALS certifications.
Details
- Work in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) of a Level 1 Trauma Center
- Night shift schedule of 3x12 hours, 7pm-7:30am
- No block scheduling available
- Every other weekend requirement (2 weekends per month)
- No on-call requirements
- Uses Cerner charting system
- Mandatory float facility - all staff required to float at facility's discretion
- May float to units outside primary competency with team-based care model support
- May be required to float to other Cook facilities within 50 miles, with as little as 2 hours notice
Requirements
- Active IL RN license required in hand at time of submission (no pending licenses accepted)
- Minimum 2 years of PICU experience required
- Current BLS and PALS certifications required
- NIHSS certification preferred
- Cerner charting experience required
- Skilled in medication administration including anti-seizure medications, continuous sedation, and IV vasopressors
- Proficient in pediatric dosage calculations
- Experience with BiPAP/CPAP management and care of ventilated patients
- Skilled in acute airway care and interpretation of Arterial Blood Gases (ABGs)
- Experience managing chest tubes, central lines, and PICC lines
- Knowledge of ICP monitoring
- Skilled in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Proficient in isolation precautions and PPE use
- Two professional references required from most recent employers prior to start, with one from the most recent employer and only one reference accepted per employer
- Proof of COVID vaccination required with no exceptions
Additional Information
- Provide critical care nursing to pediatric patients in a high-acuity ICU setting
- Any scrub color permitted
- RTO limited to 5 days maximum with no more than 2 consecutive days, and no RTO on weekends
- No holiday RTO permitted, and no RTO the day before or after a holiday
- Contract may be subject to cancellation if a call-out occurs on a holiday
- Local candidates accepted within a 75-mile radius of the facility
- Returning resources must undergo full recredentialing and reattend orientation regardless of break in contract length
- Lab work must be completed within 72 hours of accepting the assignment
- Compliance-focused facility with strict documentation and responsiveness expectations
