Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Operating Room RN with a TN or compact license, AHA BLS certification, and at least two years of OR experience to join a fast-paced surgical team.

Details

• Full-time day shift (5x8), Monday through Friday, 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM, plus on-call responsibilities
• 13-week assignment in the Operating Room
• Community hospital setting supporting a wide range of surgical specialties including general surgery, urology, gynecology, ENT, plastics, and robotics
• Utilizes Epic EMR system for charting
• Involves use of electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources, Steris equipment, and Da Vinci Xi robotic surgical systems
• May include exposure to pediatric surgical cases across multiple specialties

Requirements

• Active TN or compact RN license required
• AHA BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of Operating Room nursing experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• BSN required for international travelers
• Skilled in circulating and/or scrubbing for procedures across general surgery, gynecology, urology, ENT, plastics, oral surgery, and robotic-assisted cases
• Knowledge of universal protocol, specimen handling, infection control, laser and radiation safety required
• Experience with emergency response protocols including fire safety, malignant hyperthermia, and latex allergy management

Additional Information

• Must reside 100+ miles from the facility's service area; local candidates not accepted
• Contract clinical staff are expected to participate in nursing student support and clinical education alongside patient care duties
• General orientation begins on Sundays with online modules averaging 4-5 non-billable hours
• Candidates must be prepared to complete a drug test within 12-14 calendar days prior to start and may be required to repeat testing if needed
• Facial hair must be trimmed or removed to meet CDC fit testing guidelines; refusal may result in cancellation
• Hospital may cancel or call off one shift biweekly without financial penalty in the event of a census decrease
• RTO requests must be submitted with the initial application
• Active license must be in-hand at the time of consideration
