Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring a VA or compact RN license and Epic experience.
Details
- Work in a 12-bed Med/Surg Tele unit at a teaching hospital
- Patient ratio of 1:4 to 1:5
- Patient population includes respiratory illness, renal illness, diabetes, sepsis, cellulitis, infections, heart failure, sickle cell, and cystic fibrosis
- Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
- 13-week assignment with option for 36 or 48 hours per week
- Every other weekend and every other holiday required
- Must adhere to facility float policy and float within scope of practice as needed
- Epic EMR experience required
Requirements
- Active VA or compact RN license (pending license accepted, must be in-hand by the Wednesday before start date)
- BLS certification required
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
- Epic charting system experience required
- BSN preferred
- Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred
- Charge nurse experience preferred
- Experience with chest tubes (Emerson/PleurEvac), tracheostomy care, heparin protocols, and PCA management
- Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation/management skills required
- Experience with isolation precautions/PPE, wound care/wound vac, and IV insulin protocols/titration
- Renal failure management experience preferred
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care in a busy Med/Surg Tele unit within a Level I trauma teaching hospital
- Maximum of 40 hours of requested time off per 13-week contract, which must be disclosed at the time of consideration
- Any vacation time planned between offer acceptance and start date must be disclosed to arrange an appropriate start date
- Specialty-specific orientation modules will be completed during onboarding
- Previous employment with the facility as permanent staff or an internal/external traveler must be disclosed; a 1-year separation and leadership approval is required for returning staff
- External travelers may not exceed 365 total assignment days at this facility
- First-time travelers may be considered for this position
- No radius restriction applies to this position
