Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced ER RN for a night shift position requiring an MD or Compact RN license and at least 2 years of emergency department experience.
Details
- Work in a hospital Emergency Department setting, including combined adult/pediatric and non-trauma areas
- Facility is STEMI and Stroke certified
- Shock/Trauma department handling cases such as gunshot wounds and traumatic amputations
- 12-hour night shifts (3x12, 1900-0730)
- Every other weekend required
- Holiday coverage required as they fall in the schedule
- Patient ratio of 1:4
- Floating may be required within specialty and to other units within scope in an extender role
- Uses Epic for charting
Requirements
- Active MD or Compact RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of ER nursing experience required
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, CPI, NIHSS
- TNCC certification preferred
- Prior charge nurse experience preferred
- Community hospital experience preferred
- Trauma Level I and Level II experience preferred
- Epic charting experience required
- Skilled in a broad range of ER competencies including pediatric emergencies, respiratory and neurological emergencies, IV therapy, cardiac monitoring, psychiatric emergencies, and orthopedic trauma care
Additional Information
- Provide emergency care across a wide range of adult and pediatric conditions, including trauma, cardiac, neurological, respiratory, and psychiatric cases
- Perform triage, isolation precautions/PPE protocols, and 12-lead EKG acquisition
- Manage patients requiring arterial lines, central lines, blood product administration, and IV vasopressors
- Support patients on ventilators, BiPAP/CPAP, and those requiring intubation
- Apply and manage orthopedic splints and assist with ortho trauma cases
- Travelers are expected to float within scope with no restrictions
- First-time travelers are accepted
- Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted unless otherwise specified
- Maximum of 7 days RTO may be requested per contract
- One major holiday off during the winter season may be allowed
- Returning staff must be separated from the health system for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler
- Returning travelers must have at least a 6-month break before returning to the facility
