Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry night shift position requiring 2+ years of experience and an active KY or compact RN license.

Details

• Community hospital setting on a 36-bed Med/Surg Telemetry unit
• Patient population ranges from age 18 to geriatric with common diagnoses including total joint replacement, general surgery, COPD, diabetes, dementia, dialysis, stroke, NSTEMI, CHF, and A-Fib
• Patient ratios of 5:1 and 6:1, with a high volume of admissions and discharges during day shift
• Uses Baxter IV pumps, Omnicell, JP drains, Hemovac drains, ostomy care supplies, NG tubes, tube feeding, and PEG tubes
• Charts in MedHost EHR
• Night shift schedule from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirements
• Floating to step-down for Med/Surg coverage required as needed

Requirements

• Active RN license (KY or Compact) required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• ADN or BSN required
• Experience with IVs, NG tubes, PICC and central line care, and catheter care required
• Post-op surgical care experience for general surgery, total knee and hip replacement, hernia repair, and colectomy patients required
• Preferred experience includes foley catheters, IV insertion, telemetry, tube feeding, and stroke and post-op care
• Strong communication skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
• Social Security number and date of birth required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide direct nursing care to Med/Surg Telemetry patients including post-operative surgical care and management of complex equipment
• Work alongside a supportive team under the Med-Surg/Float Manager
• Navy and black scrubs required; casual wear and Crocs are not permitted
• Team player, self-starter mentality preferred given the fast-paced unit environment
• Candidates must reside 60 miles or greater from the facility to be considered for the travel rate
• Candidates who have worked as permanent staff at any LifePoint facility within the last 12 months are not eligible
• Candidates cannot be employed elsewhere full time while on assignment
