Description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a NICU position at a community-based hospital, requiring RRT certification and 2 years of experience with the ability to float across multiple units.

Details

• Community-based hospital setting requiring float coverage between NICU II, high-risk deliveries, Adult acute care, and Emergency Department
• NICU unit caring for neonatal and pediatric patients, including high-risk deliveries
• Will rotate to Emergency Department, Adult ICU, Adult Med Surg, Adult Progressive Care Unit, Labor & Delivery, and NICU as needed
• ED is a full-service community-based department requiring assistance with pediatric care as applicable
• Floats between NICU II and high-risk deliveries approximately 30-40% of a 13-week assignment
• Cerner charting system experience preferred
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• Every other weekend required (Saturday and Sunday)
• Holiday coverage required for 2 of 3 major holidays
• 100% floating required, including to affiliate hospitals nearby

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, and RRT
• License required if applicable
• Experience assisting with high-risk deliveries required
• Skilled in ventilator management including CPAP, BiPAP, and flow-by
• Experience with airway management devices including intubation and extubation assistance
• Proficient in oxygen therapy including High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
• Experience with medication administration in respiratory care
• Adult critical care and Labor & Delivery experience preferred
• Graduated from a university accredited by ACEN or CCNE
• Two supervisor references required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide respiratory therapy services across NICU, high-risk deliveries, and adult critical care settings
• Attend high-risk deliveries as part of NICU coverage responsibilities
• Work as part of a multidisciplinary team supporting various hospital units
• First-time travelers are accepted for this position
• Local candidates residing in Indiana are considered local but not accepted for this ICU-designated position
• Former IU Health perm or PRN employees must wait 12 months before applying as a traveler
• Current or past IU Health travelers with 12 months of accrued travel employment must complete a designated break to reset eligibility
• Up to 5 days of non-holiday RTO can be auto-approved; additional time off requires facility approval
