Description
American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Med/Surg Tele - Emergency Observation Unit position requiring at least 18 months of Med/Tele experience and NIHSS certification.
Details
- Emergency Observation Unit within a Trauma Level III teaching hospital
- 10-bed unit with an average daily census of 8 patients
- Patient population includes chest pain, syncope, and angina cases
- RN to patient ratio of 1:5 and CNA ratio of 1:10
- 12-hour day shifts (0700-1900), 36 hours per week
- Weekend rotation every other weekend
- No on-call or call-back requirements
- EMR: EPIC
- IV pumps: Alaris
- Medication dispensing via Omnicell
- Floating required within Region 1 facilities (Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH peds) as needed and within scope of practice
Requirements
- Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
- BLS and ACLS certification required
- NIHSS certification required (Resource Team requirement)
- Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required
- Skills required include stroke care, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, drain/tube management, PCA pump use, and medication drip management (cardiac drips, Heparin, blood products, IVF)
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
- At least one professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN required
- Must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year if previously in a permanent position there
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care within a busy Emergency Observation Unit supporting chest pain, stroke, and cardiac patients
- Unit support includes a Supervisor, Charge RN, Resource RN for admissions/discharges, 24/7 RT and Hospitalist coverage, and a dedicated IV/VAT team
- Travelers will be prioritized for floating assignments and must be adaptable to working within scope of practice on other units
- Holiday coverage required for 75% of holidays
- Up to 6 RTO days may be approved, excluding holidays, with any shortfall added to the end of the contract
- Navy scrub color required
- Free employee parking provided in a designated deck
- Unit offers a collaborative team culture with activities such as a book club and Netflix watch groups
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for the travel assignment
- First-time travelers not preferred but will be considered
