Description
American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a hospital-based Respiratory Care unit, requiring an RRT credential and KY state licensure.
Details
- Hospital-based Respiratory Care department offering advanced treatment for conditions like asthma and COPD, including testing, ventilator support, rehab, education, and 24/7 emergency care
- Treats neonatal, pediatric, and adult patient populations
- First shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts, 6a-6p
- 36 hours per week at 0.9 FTE
- Utilizes EPIC EMR for charting and order entry
Requirements
- Associate's Degree in Respiratory Care
- No prior experience required
- BLS, PALS, and NRP certifications required
- Kentucky Board of Respiratory Care (KBRC) Respiratory Care Practitioner License required
- National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required
- License required if applicable
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to operate all respiratory equipment related to the job
Additional Information
- Manages and assesses patients on mechanical and non-invasive ventilation, following age-specific protocols for neonatal, pediatric, and adult patients
- Educates patients and families on ventilator care and safe equipment use
- Performs oxygen therapy, aerosol medication administration, humidification, suctioning, and chest physiotherapy
- Performs airway management, supportive ventilation, and chest compressions during CPR
- Obtains, processes, and reports arterial blood gases independently
- Assists in maintaining and troubleshooting respiratory care equipment
- Serves as a resource for nursing, physicians, and respiratory therapy orientees and students
- Participates in quality improvement activities and required safety training programs
- Responds promptly to respiratory care pages and customer service needs
