Description

American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift RN - Telemetry with at least 1 year of inpatient tele experience and a current MO or compact RN license.

Details

  • Inpatient telemetry unit within a hospital setting, assigned to the highest-need unit at time of offer
  • Patient ratios vary by unit and shift, estimated at 1:5-1:6 days and 1:6-1:8 nights
  • Uses EPIC EMR system
  • Night shift schedule, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
  • Weekend hours required as needed by facility
  • No on-call requirements
  • Floating required on a rotational basis
  • Night shift staff orient on day shift and must be available the entire orientation week

Requirements

  • Active RN license eligible for licensure in Missouri or currently licensed in Missouri (Standard or Compact)
  • Current BLS certification from AHA required
  • 4 trauma credits required, or must be completed within first two weeks of start
  • NIHSS certification required prior to start (may submit without it initially)
  • ACLS from AHA preferred
  • Minimum 1 year of recent inpatient telemetry experience required
  • Experience and competence in drug titration required
  • No employment gaps of 90+ days within the past 12 months

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care using the nursing process including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation for all age groups
  • Coordinate patient care activities with ancillary departments to optimize care and comfort
  • Maintain professional accountability and evaluate effectiveness of care provided by other caregivers
  • Care for patients recovering from trauma, surgical interventions, and medical comorbidities
  • Physical demands include standing and walking most of the shift, frequent bending, stooping, lifting, and turning patients with assistance
  • Must be able to push, pull, and grip up to 50 lbs, pinch up to 15 lbs, and minimally kneel, crouch, and crawl
  • High-risk exposure to blood and body fluids
  • Black scrubs required; torn clothing and open-toed shoes not permitted
  • Flu vaccination or Mercy-approved exemption required for all travelers from November 1 through April 1, with no declinations accepted
  • Up to 5 days of requested time off allowed but must be made up during the assignment; RTO not approved during the first week
  • Only 1 holiday RTO request allowed per assignment
  • Facility is a Level 1 Trauma & Burn Center and Level 2 Stroke Center
  • Local candidates accepted, though local candidates are subject to a reduced bill rate and restrictions on consecutive local contracts
  • Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are limited to 3 consecutive 13-week contracts before requiring a 1-year separation or transfer to a facility outside the radius
