Description

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for a night shift assignment requiring at least 1 year of experience and current RRT/BLS certification.

• Patient ratio of 1:12-16
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM-7:00 AM)
• 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
• Epic EMR experience preferred

Requirements

• Active RRT certification
• BLS certification required; ACLS also required
• NRP and PALS certifications preferred
• Minimum 1 year of respiratory therapy experience required
• Epic charting system experience preferred
• Teaching hospital, community hospital, LTAC, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
• Skilled in airway management including intubation assist, extubation, and tracheostomy care
• Experience with ventilator management including BiPAP, CPAP, and weaning from mechanical ventilation
• Proficient in arterial blood gas draws and interpretation
• Experience administering respiratory medications such as Albuterol, Atrovent, and inhaled steroids
• License required if applicable
• Two professional references required for consideration
• Copy of driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide respiratory care to adult critical care and emergency department patients
• Perform airway management, pulmonary hygiene, and oxygen therapy procedures
• Assist with patient transport between departments and via ambulance
• Manage ventilator settings and troubleshoot alarms
• Administer nebulizer treatments and other respiratory medications
• Perform chest physiotherapy and pulmonary function testing as needed
• First-time travelers will be considered for this position
• Scrubs of any color are permitted
• Maximum of 2 RTO requests allowed per contract
• Traveler's permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the facility for travel pay rate eligibility
• Local candidates accepted at a lower rate
• Previous employees must be separated from the facility for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Non-billable orientation modules (up to 4 hours) completed during orientation via MyPath
