Description

American Traveler is seeking an RN - PCU for a 12-hour night shift float pool position at a Level 2 Trauma teaching hospital, requiring 2 years of specialty experience and a GA or compact RN license.

Details

  • Float pool position within a 361-bed Level 2 Trauma teaching hospital with a residency program
  • Facility includes Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center designations
  • PCU/Med-Tele patient population includes chest pain, cardiac events, arrhythmias, and cardiac stepdown care
  • PCU staffing ratio is 1:3
  • Uses Epic EMR
  • Cardiac monitors, Glucommander, and titratable drip equipment utilized on applicable units
  • 12-hour night shift schedule, 1900-0700, 36 hours per week
  • 13-week schedule cycle with options for 6, 8, 10, or 13 week contracts
  • Every other weekend rotation required
  • Floating required to all Med-Surg and Critical Care areas, including ED boarders, ICU, and ER as needed
  • On-call may be required during low census periods, though rare

Requirements

  • Active RN license (GA or compact) required
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in PCU or related specialty required
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
  • CPI certification required (facility will provide training if not already certified)
  • PCU skills required: arrhythmia monitoring and knowledge of cardiac titratable drips
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
  • Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Additional Information

  • Provide nursing care across PCU and cardiac stepdown units, monitoring arrhythmias and managing cardiac titratable drips
  • Work alongside a support team including CNAs/nurse techs, respiratory therapists, phlebotomists, safety sitters, virtual patient observers, and virtual RNs
  • Orientation includes one week of facility-wide NEO (Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm) followed by 2-3 days of departmental orientation
  • Holiday coverage required for 70% of holidays
  • Up to 7 days of RTO may be pre-approved if participating in clinical interviewing and extending contract
  • Navy scrub color required
  • Free parking provided
  • Department culture emphasizes teamwork, timely response to call lights and rover phones, and prioritizing telemetry alerts
  • First-time travelers will be considered but are not preferred
  • Local GA candidates accepted with no radius rule and same rate as traveling candidates
  • Previous employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year after working a permanent position
