Description
American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a 13-week night shift assignment at a Level 1 trauma acute care hospital, requiring recent Level 1 or 2 trauma experience.
Details

- Covers all inpatient areas and floors
- Treats patients across the full age spectrum from neonates to geriatrics
- Performs EKGs, bedside bronchoscopies, and bedside spirometry
- Uses ventilators including Drager, Servo I, and Carefusion (Heliox and NICU use only)
- Uses BiPAP units including Vision, V60, V30, and Respironics S/T
- Uses Airvo2 high flow equipment
- Uses EPIC EMR
- 12-hour night shifts on a 7pm-7am schedule with team scheduling
- Weekend requirement of every other weekend for nights
- Rotates holiday coverage with permanent staff
- Floats to different areas throughout the hospital in the RT capacity
- Hospitalist or intensivist coverage in house 24/7
- Lead RT present on each shift
- Never the sole RT in-house
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of experience required
- Recent Level 1 or Level 2 trauma experience required
- BLS (AHA) and ACLS certifications required
- Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) via NBRC or RRT required
- NRP and PALS certifications preferred
- Active state or compact (NLC) license required if applicable; pending licenses not accepted
- Driver's license required at submission
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
Additional Information
- Provide respiratory care across a wide range of patient acuities and age groups in a fast-paced acute care environment
- Collaborate closely with providers, nursing, and the respiratory therapy team
- Unit-specific orientation consists of three 12-hour shifts
- Artificial fingernails are prohibited in all patient care areas
- Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
- Candidates may not have been directly employed (full time, part time, or PRN) with any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI or Dignity, within the past year
- Up to 7 days of RTO may be requested upfront for the 13-week contract, with no additional RTO approved after submission
- Success in this role is supported by strong time management, flexibility, adaptability, communication, and teamwork skills
