Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced Labor & Delivery RN for a night shift teaching hospital position requiring 2+ years of recent L&D experience and NRP certification.
Details
- Work in the Labor and Delivery unit of a teaching hospital with over 300 births per month
- Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
- Every other weekend required
- Open availability required with no blocked scheduling
- Will float between High Risk and Labor & Delivery units
- Bi-weekly orientation schedule
- Epic charting system used
Requirements
- Active NC or Compact RN license required in hand
- Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery experience required
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NRP
- AWHONN Beginner, AWHONN Intermediate, and FHM certifications preferred
- Epic charting experience required
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Experience with high-risk deliveries, C-section circulating, and vaginal delivery assistance
- Experience with fetal monitoring (external and internal) and recognition of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
- One supervisory reference from within the last year required for consideration
- Full SSN and date of birth required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive care across antepartum, labor and delivery, and postpartum units
- Assist with high-risk deliveries, vaginal deliveries, and C-section procedures
- Manage patients with conditions such as pre-eclampsia, HELLP syndrome, placenta previa, preterm labor, and multiple gestation
- Provide newborn care including APGAR scoring, neonatal resuscitation, and thermoregulation
- Administer medications including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and antihypertensives
- Support breastfeeding and lactation, and provide postpartum wound and perineal care
- Scrubs provided in Royal Blue
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
- Local candidates accepted within 75 miles at a reduced pay rate
- Candidates with prior permanent employment at this health system must not have worked there within the past 6 months
- Maximum RTO of 5-7 days must be submitted with candidacy
- Flu vaccine required with no exemptions during flu season (October 31 - March 31)
