Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor and Delivery position requiring independent sterile vaginal exam competency and AWHONN Advanced certification.

Details

• Acute care hospital setting with 320 staffed beds
• Work in the Labor and Delivery unit
• 1:2 patient ratio
• Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• Must be open to working weekends, likely exceeding every other weekend to meet unit needs
• Floating required to Mother Baby unit
• No on-call requirements
• Uses Meditech for charting

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required
• Required certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, BLS, and NRP
• Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required, with candidates under 2 years considered on a case-by-case basis (1.5 years is an absolute minimum)
• Must have expert-level experience performing sterile vaginal exams independently without supervision
• Epic EMR experience required
• Proficiency in labor and delivery management including amnioinfusion, high-risk and vaginal delivery assistance, C-section circulation and scrubbing, and forceps/vacuum extraction
• Experience with fetal monitoring including external and internal fetal monitoring, IUPC placement and calibration, and spiral electrode placement
• Experience with antepartum, postpartum, and newborn care procedures
• Experience administering medications such as Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and Terbutaline
• Experience with epidural and general anesthesia pain management

• Responsibilities include labor and delivery management, antepartum and postpartum care, neonatal care in the delivery room, and newborn assessments
• Must reside within a 50-mile radius of the facility to qualify for the local rate
• Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a travel nurse and must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
• RTO requests must be submitted at the time of application, as post-offer time off requests may not be accommodated
• Must be willing to work 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• Scrub color for RNs is royal blue, with scrubs provided for Labor and Delivery/OR staff
