Description
American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for a night shift position at a major teaching, Level I trauma hospital, requiring 2+ years of experience and RRT/BLS/ACLS/PALS certifications.
Details
- Short term acute care hospital setting with a Level I trauma designation and major teaching status
- Works within the Respiratory Therapy department
- Night shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:30
- 13-week assignment length
- Uses Epic charting system
- Cares for adult critical care and emergency department patients, with NICU exposure preferred
- Performs ventilator management including BiPAP, CPAP, and weaning from mechanical ventilation
- Administers a range of respiratory medications including bronchodilators, inhaled steroids, and nitric oxide
- Performs airway management including intubation/extubation assistance, suctioning, and tracheostomy care
- Provides oxygen therapy including high flow nasal cannula
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist
- Level I trauma experience preferred
- Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and RRT
- Epic charting experience required
- Compact or North Carolina license required in hand at time of consideration
- License required if applicable
- 1 supervisory reference within the last year required for consideration
- Full SSN and DOB required for consideration
- Flu vaccine required with no exemptions during flu season (10/31-3/31)
- Skilled in interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs)
Additional Information
- First-time travelers will be considered for this position
- Guaranteed hours included with this assignment
- Local candidates accepted at a local rate within 75 miles of the facility
- Orientation sessions occur bi-weekly
- Candidates with prior permanent employment at this health system must disclose this history and must not have been a permanent employee within the past 6 months
- RTO requests must be submitted with consideration, limited to a maximum of 5-7 days
- Travelers may have up to three absences per 13-week contract, with excessive tardiness or no call/no show subject to review
- Facility is nationally ranked in multiple adult and pediatric specialties
