Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor and Delivery position requiring 2+ years of L&D experience, a TX or compact RN license, and multiple AWHONN certifications.

Details

• Labor and Delivery unit within a hospital setting
• Facility performs 100-200 births per month
• Patient ratios: Labor 1:2, Antepartum 1:3, Mother/Baby 1:3
• Day shift schedule (3x12 hours, 6:00 AM-6:00 PM)
• Uses Epic charting system
• Unit does not accept first-time travelers

Requirements

• Active TX or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NRP, AWHONN Beginner, AWHONN Intermediate, and AWHONN Advanced
• Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Skilled in labor and delivery management including assisting with vaginal and high-risk deliveries, circulating and scrubbing for C-sections, and hemorrhage/shock management
• Experienced in fetal monitoring including use of external and internal fetal monitors, IUPC placement/calibration, and recognition of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
• Experienced in antepartum, postpartum, and newborn care procedures

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include managing high-risk antepartum, labor, delivery, mother/baby, and LDRP patients
• Perform medication administration including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, antihypertensives, and insulin drips
• Provide newborn care including APGAR scoring, newborn assessment, and discharge teaching to parents
• Support postpartum care including breastfeeding/lactation support, fundus/lochia/perineum care, and wound assessment
• No travel pairs or groups accepted
• Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted as locals
• Travelers residing in specified nearby Texas counties (Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, and Morris) will not be contracted
• Former staff must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
• No more than 3 days of RTO will be auto-approved, and no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
