Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical-Surgical/Telemetry unit, requiring a TX or compact RN license, 2 years of experience, and Epic charting proficiency.

Details

• Work in a Medical-Surgical/Telemetry unit with 19 rooms (18 private, 1 semi-private) and a maximum census of 20 patients
• Care for a diverse patient population ranging from young adults to geriatrics
• Maintain a 1:6 patient ratio
• Work 3x12-hour day shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
• Work every other weekend (half of scheduled shifts)
• Utilize Epic for charting

Requirements

• Active TX or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• Current BLS certification required; NIHSS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Proficiency in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and PICC line management
• Experience with central line blood draws, peripheral line care, and blood product administration
• Skilled in colostomy/ileostomy and feeding tube care and management
• Experience managing neurological conditions such as CVA, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury
• Familiarity with medication administration including heparin, insulin, and PCA
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and telemetry monitoring (unit and remote)
• Experience utilizing Rapid Response/Code teams
• Proficient in isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac management
• Experience with respiratory care including nasal cannula, oral suctioning, and oxygen administration
• Experience managing renal failure and pre/post hemodialysis care

• Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility will not be accepted for this travel position
• Candidates residing in Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, or Morris counties are not eligible
• Travel pairs or groups are not accepted for this position
• Former staff members must wait one year before returning as a traveler
• No more than 3 days of requested time off will be auto-approved, and no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
