Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical-Surgical/Telemetry unit, requiring a TX or compact RN license, 2 years of experience, and Epic charting proficiency.
Details
- Work in a Medical-Surgical/Telemetry unit with 19 rooms (18 private, 1 semi-private) and a maximum census of 20 patients
- Care for a diverse patient population ranging from young adults to geriatrics
- Maintain a 1:6 patient ratio
- Work 3x12-hour day shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
- Work every other weekend (half of scheduled shifts)
- Utilize Epic for charting
Requirements
- Active TX or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
- Current BLS certification required; NIHSS preferred
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Epic charting experience required
- Proficiency in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and PICC line management
- Experience with central line blood draws, peripheral line care, and blood product administration
- Skilled in colostomy/ileostomy and feeding tube care and management
- Experience managing neurological conditions such as CVA, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury
- Familiarity with medication administration including heparin, insulin, and PCA
- Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and telemetry monitoring (unit and remote)
- Experience utilizing Rapid Response/Code teams
- Proficient in isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac management
- Experience with respiratory care including nasal cannula, oral suctioning, and oxygen administration
- Experience managing renal failure and pre/post hemodialysis care

- Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility will not be accepted for this travel position
- Candidates residing in Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, or Morris counties are not eligible
- Travel pairs or groups are not accepted for this position
- Former staff members must wait one year before returning as a traveler
- No more than 3 days of requested time off will be auto-approved, and no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
