Description
American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring 2 years of experience and a CT or compact RN license at a Level I Trauma Center academic medical center.
Details
- Work in the Med/Surg Telemetry unit of a Level I Trauma Center, academic medical center
- Patient population includes cardiovascular, post-angiogram, post-MI, and renal/GU cases including pre/post hemodialysis management
- Average patient ratio of 1:6
- Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 19:00-7:00
- Required to work every other weekend
- Must work the Christmas holiday period (12/23-12/25)
- No on-call requirements
- Floating required within scope to meet facility needs
- Uses Epic charting system
- Guaranteed hours included in assignment
Requirements
- Active CT RN license or compact license required prior to start date
- Current BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg Telemetry experience required
- Prior experience in a teaching hospital setting required
- Epic charting experience required
- Experience with telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and cardiac emergency response
- Skilled in IV therapy, central and peripheral line management, and blood product administration
- Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, and tracheostomy management
- Experience with wound care and isolation precautions/PPE
- Experience managing renal failure and pre/post hemodialysis patients
- One professional reference required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care for a Med/Surg Telemetry population, including cardiovascular and renal patients
- Participate in rapid response and code team activations as needed
- Facility is a large, 1,567-bed Level I Trauma Center and academic medical center
- Royal blue scrub color required
- Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
- COVID vaccine and booster required, with exemptions granted only for religious or medical reasons
- Requests for RTO greater than 7 days require additional approval
- Local candidates within 75 miles of the facility are not accepted
- Former staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 2 years to be eligible as a traveler
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Travelers may be asked to participate in natural disaster or emergency response activities
