Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring 2 years of experience and a CT or compact RN license at a Level I Trauma Center academic medical center.

Details

  • Work in the Med/Surg Telemetry unit of a Level I Trauma Center, academic medical center
  • Patient population includes cardiovascular, post-angiogram, post-MI, and renal/GU cases including pre/post hemodialysis management
  • Average patient ratio of 1:6
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 19:00-7:00
  • Required to work every other weekend
  • Must work the Christmas holiday period (12/23-12/25)
  • No on-call requirements
  • Floating required within scope to meet facility needs
  • Uses Epic charting system
  • Guaranteed hours included in assignment

Requirements

  • Active CT RN license or compact license required prior to start date
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg Telemetry experience required
  • Prior experience in a teaching hospital setting required
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Experience with telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and cardiac emergency response
  • Skilled in IV therapy, central and peripheral line management, and blood product administration
  • Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, and tracheostomy management
  • Experience with wound care and isolation precautions/PPE
  • Experience managing renal failure and pre/post hemodialysis patients
  • One professional reference required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care for a Med/Surg Telemetry population, including cardiovascular and renal patients
  • Participate in rapid response and code team activations as needed
  • Facility is a large, 1,567-bed Level I Trauma Center and academic medical center
  • Royal blue scrub color required
  • Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
  • COVID vaccine and booster required, with exemptions granted only for religious or medical reasons
  • Requests for RTO greater than 7 days require additional approval
  • Local candidates within 75 miles of the facility are not accepted
  • Former staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 2 years to be eligible as a traveler
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Travelers may be asked to participate in natural disaster or emergency response activities
