Description
American Traveler is hiring a PACU RN for a 13-week assignment requiring an active AK RN license and at least 1 year of PACU experience.
Details
- Acute care hospital setting in the PACU/Preop/Phase II department
- Patient ratio of 1:2
- Day shift, 3x12 hours, with variable start times including 0700-1900, 0800-2000, 0900-2100, 1000-2200, and 1100-2300
- On-call required, approximately 1 call shift per week, primarily overnight (2230-0700)
- Must select one Saturday night or one Sunday night call shift, with limited dayshift call options available
- Must be able to arrive at the hospital within 30 minutes of being called; on-site call sleep rooms available
- May float within scope to like units, including sister facilities
- Epic EMR used for charting
Requirements
- Active AK RN license required in hand
- Minimum 1 year of PACU experience required
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS
- Pediatric PACU experience preferred
- Level II Trauma experience preferred
- Epic EMR experience preferred
- Experience with cardiac monitoring, arterial line management, dysrhythmia recognition/management, IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central line care
- Experience administering IV vasopressors, narcotics/opioid analgesics, and reversal agents
- Experience with post-anesthesia care including general, local, MAC, nerve blocks, spinal, conscious sedation, and post-epidural management
- Experience with pain assessment and management, PCA pump management, and RASS scoring
- Experience with surgical case types including bariatrics, ENT, general, GYN, neuro, ophthalmology, ortho, and vascular
- Two supervisory references covering at least 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting
Additional Information
- Provide post-anesthesia care to inpatient and Phase I PACU patients, including pediatric cases
- Level II Trauma, Magnet-designated facility recognized as a top hospital in Alaska
- Scrubs provided by the facility
- Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
- Free parking available
- First-time travelers are accepted
- Candidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be considered
- Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a travancy and must reside outside the 50-mile radius
- All requested time off must be submitted upfront at the time of application, as post-offer requests may not be accommodated
- Travelers may be required to float between sister facilities within the region
