Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position at a Level II Trauma Center, requiring at least one prior travel contract and a TX or compact RN license.
Details
- Work in the Med/Surg Tele unit of a short-term acute care hospital with 379 staffed beds
- Level II Trauma Center setting
- Night shift schedule with 3x12 hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:00
- Patient ratio of 1:5
- Required to work every other weekend
- Floating between units required
- May be expected to float between sister facilities near the contracted facility
- No on-call responsibilities
- Epic EMR experience required
Requirements
- Active RN license (TX state or compact) in hand at time of submission
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum of 1 year of recent experience required
- Must be a seasoned traveler with at least one prior travel contract
- Epic charting system experience required
- Skilled in telemetry monitoring, cardiac dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- Experience with IV therapy, central line care, PICC line management, and phlebotomy preferred
- Experience with feeding tube care, wound care/wound vac, and IV insulin protocols preferred
- Experience with respiratory support including high flow nasal cannula and oxygen administration preferred
- Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required
- Must disclose any prior work history with Providence facilities as permanent staff, traveler, or registry/per-diem
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care on a busy Med/Surg Telemetry unit within a Level II Trauma Center
- Utilize rapid response and code team protocols as needed for cardiac monitoring and emergency response
- Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day
- RTO requests must be submitted upfront during the application process, as post-offer time off may not be accommodated
- Dress code requires solid navy blue uniforms or scrubs for licensed nursing staff
- Free parking available in designated employee/visitor surface lots
- Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must reside outside a 50-mile radius from the facility
- Local candidates accepted within a 50-mile radius at a lower bill rate
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
