Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Telemetry Stepdown position requiring 2+ years of experience and Level I Trauma Center background.
Details
- Work in the Stepdown/Telemetry unit of a Level I Trauma Center, Academic Medical Center
- Patient ratio averages 1:5-6
- Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
- Required to work every other weekend
- Floating within scope required to meet facility needs
- No on-call responsibilities
- Epic EMR experience required
Requirements
- Active CT or Compact RN license required prior to start date
- Current certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required (1.5 years considered with Level I Trauma or travel experience)
- Level I Trauma Center experience required
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- Epic charting system experience required
- Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and use of Rapid Response/Code teams
- Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP management, oxygen administration, and tracheostomy care
- Experience with IV therapy, central and peripheral line care, and blood product administration
- Experience managing neurological conditions such as CVA, seizure disorders, and traumatic brain injury
- Skilled in wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE
- Experience with IV insulin protocols and titration of insulin drips
- One professional reference required
- Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
- COVID vaccine and booster required, with exemptions only for religious/medical reasons
Additional Information
- Provide telemetry and stepdown-level nursing care within a large academic Level I Trauma Center
- Scrub color requirement is royal blue
- Parking available for a monthly fee
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates are not accepted; candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the hospital
- Previous staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 2 years to be eligible to return as a traveler
- Requests for RTO greater than 7 days require additional approval
- Travelers are expected to participate in natural disaster or emergency response activities as needed
