Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a night shift position requiring 2 years of ICU experience, Epic proficiency, and a valid LA or Compact RN license.

Details

• Work in the ICU of a hospital setting
• Night shift schedule: 4x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Standard patient ratio of 1:2, occasionally flexing to 1:3
• Weekend requirement of 4 shifts per 4-week schedule
• No on-call responsibilities
• Floating required to all ICUs, and may occasionally float to the ED or PACU to care for ICU patients
• May occasionally float to Med/Surg or PCU units with 1:4 patient ratios
• Nurses perform all lab sticks, EKGs, and line starts
• Uses equipment including Alaris IV Pumps, CADD PCA pumps, Servo I ventilators, Fresenius CRRT Dialysis machines, Edwards Lifesciences cardiac monitors, Medtronic EVD Management Systems, Arctic Sun TMS, GE Monitors, Hill Rom Beds, Pyxis Medication Station, and Veratron Bladder Scanner
• Epic charting system required

Requirements

• Active LA RN license or Compact RN license required at time of consideration
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and CPI (CPI may be obtained onsite for a fee)
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• IMPELLA and CRRT/NXStage experience required
• Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
• Skilled in IV therapy, arterial line management, central line care, PICC line management, and blood product administration
• Experience with ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, ABG interpretation, and suctioning required
• Experience with CVVHD/CRRT and management of acute/chronic renal failure required
• Experience titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips required
• Experience with dysrhythmia interpretation and management required
• Experience with 12-lead EKG acquisition required
• Experience with continuous IV sedation and emergency medication administration required
• Experience with IV insulin protocols required
• Experience with isolation precautions and PPE required
• N95 mask fit size should be known prior to starting

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive critical care nursing to ICU patients, including cardiovascular, neurological, respiratory, and renal support
• May care for complex cases including CABG, TAVR, IABP, ECMO, LVAD/RVAD, and post cardiac surgery patients
• May manage neurological cases including EVD, ICP monitoring, lumbar drains, post-craniotomy, and stroke management
• Must be prepared to care for isolation patients, including potential COVID-19 cases
• RTO limited to 5 days total during the assignment
• Candidates living within 75 miles are considered local and accepted at the local rate
• Previous LCMC Health permanent employees must have separated from the health system for at least 1 year to be eligible for travel assignments
• First-time travelers are not specifically excluded but should closely meet all listed skill and equipment requirements
