Description

American Traveler is hiring an Operating Room RN with required cardiovascular and general surgery experience for a Level IV trauma teaching hospital.

Details

• Operating Room department in a short-term acute care, Level IV Trauma Center and major teaching hospital
• Average daily census of 22 cases
• 3x12 hour day shift schedule, either 9a-9p or 11a-11p
• Every other weekend required
• On-call requirement of 1 day per week plus 1-2 weekends per 4-5 week schedule with 30 minute response time
• Charting system is Cerner with Accudose

Requirements

• Active WV or Compact RN license required; pending license accepted for consideration
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Minimum 1 year of in-specialty OR experience required
• BLS certification required
• Cardiovascular (CV) and general surgery circulating and scrub experience required
• Proficiency in vascular procedures including AV fistulas/grafts, aortic surgeries/bypasses, femoral to popliteal or distal bypasses, carotids, and embolectomies required
• Proficiency in orthopedic procedures including arthroscopies and total joints required
• Proficiency in general surgery procedures including colorectal/colon resections, laparoscopic assisted surgeries, whipples, liver resections, thyroids, and mastectomies required
• Proficiency in ENT procedures including trachs, laryngectomies, and radical neck dissections required
• Proficiency in urology procedures including cystectomies, nephrectomies, prostatectomies, implants, and cysto related procedures required
• Proficiency in robotics procedures including gyn, colorectal, hernias, and lap nissens required
• Proficiency in GYN procedures including abdominal/vaginal hysterectomies and posterior/anterior repairs required
• Proficiency in vein harvesting and radial artery harvesting required
• Minimum 2 years RN experience preferred with prior charge experience
• Minimum 2 Manager and/or Charge Nurse references from the past 2 years required
• Flu vaccine required during flu season (October 1 - March 31) unless medical exemption documented
• Driver's license and Social Security number required for consideration

Additional Information

• Circulate and scrub for a wide range of surgical specialties including vascular, orthopedic, general, ENT, urology, robotics, and GYN cases
• Sunday through Friday night shifts are covered by staff; on-call coverage is needed only for call-ins or scheduled time off
• Major holidays are covered by call shifts for emergencies only, using the same hours as the standard on-call schedule
• Holiday RTO requests limited to no more than 1 of the 3 major holidays
• Scrub color requirement is Royal Blue, White, or a combination of both
• First-time travelers accepted if experience requirements are met
• Former CAMC permanent employees must wait 2 years from their last day worked before returning as a traveler
• Current employees of Vandalia Health System (including CAMC Health Systems, Mon Health Systems, Davis Medical Center, Broaddus Hospital, Webster Memorial Hospital, Grafton City Hospital, Highland-Clarksburg Hospital, and Minnie Hamilton Health System) are not eligible for this travel contract
• Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility; those between 75-99 miles may be considered on a case-by-case basis
• Free parking provided for travelers
• Non-billable training modules required prior to start date, averaging 2-6 hours to complete
