Description
American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a Level IIIB NICU/PICU night shift position requiring RRT certification and prior NICU/pediatric critical care experience.
Details
- Work in a 60-bed Level IIIB NICU and 8-bed PICU at a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma Center teaching hospital
- Serves neonatal, infant, pediatric, and adolescent patient populations
- Night shift schedule of 3x12 hours, 7p-7a
- Weekend requirement of every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts within a 6-week scheduling block
- Must work one holiday per 13-week contract (two holidays required during winter holiday period)
- EPIC charting experience required
- Floating required within skillset, including to adult units
- Unit utilizes high frequency jet ventilator, oscillator, bubble CPAP, RAM cannula, and NAVA
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of experience with NICU or PICU patients required
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification by the NBRC required; CRT not accepted
- BLS required; NRP and PALS preferred
- Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner by the VA State Board of Medicine required; other state licenses accepted with 90-day temporary authorization while VA license is obtained
- License required if applicable
- Prior NICU and pediatric experience required, with critical care background in high-volume ER, Level I Trauma Center, and Level III NICU settings
- Proficient in advanced ventilator management including HFJV, HF oscillator, Jet, Servo I, V60, 3100A/B, and Nitric systems
- Skilled in troubleshooting high-pressure alarms and weaning from mechanical ventilation
- Proficient in CPAP/NCPAP/BiPAP setup, extubation techniques, and all modes of invasive and non-invasive ventilation, including nitric oxide delivery
- Teaching hospital and Level I Trauma experience preferred
- Two references required for consideration
- Copy of driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide advanced respiratory care to high-acuity neonatal and pediatric patients as part of a multidisciplinary NICU/PICU team including registered respiratory therapists and pediatric specialists
- First-time travelers will be considered; 1 year of travel experience preferred
- Locals accepted; radius rule criteria apply
- Previous employees must be separated from the facility for a minimum of one year before returning as a traveler
- Travelers who have worked 365 days on assignment are not eligible to return, with exceptions reviewed case-by-case by facility leadership
- All RTO, block, and special scheduling requests must be submitted upfront
- Facility may call off up to 1 shift per 2-week period
