Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced Ambulatory PACU RN for a 13-week travel contract requiring an active NY RN license and at least 1-2 years of Ambulatory PACU experience.
Details
- Work in an Ambulatory Care outpatient surgical setting within the PACU unit
- Care for patients undergoing endoscopic, laparoscopic, and urology procedures
- Provide Phase I PACU recovery care including pre-op and post-op patient management
- Utilizes Epic for documentation
- Day shift schedule, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM (5x7.5 hours, 37.5 hours weekly)
- No weekend shifts required
Requirements
- Active New York State RN license required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 1-2 years of Ambulatory PACU experience required
- Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia recognition and management required
- Experience with hyperglycemia/hypoglycemia protocols and insulin administration required
- Skilled in IV insertion and maintenance
- Experience recovering patients from local anesthesia, Monitored Anesthesia Care (MAC), nerve blocks, spinal anesthesia, and post-epidural management required
- Experience administering emergency medications, narcotics/opioid analgesics, and reversal agents required
- Competency in pre-op assessments, patient education, medication reconciliation, and review of History & Physical required
- Ability to obtain 12-lead EKG/ECG and operative/procedural consents required
- Knowledge of isolation precautions/PPE and Malignant Hyperthermia protocol required
- Experience with pain assessment/management and use of the Richmond Agitation-Sedation Scale (RASS) required
- Epic charting experience preferred but not required
- Copy of certifications, hard copy of license, SSN, and DOB required for consideration
- Two managerial references required (Charge RN references not accepted)
- COVID vaccination required with no exceptions
Additional Information
- Deliver comprehensive pre- and post-operative care including patient education, discharge instructions, and medication administration
- Support surgical recovery for ENT, ophthalmology, orthopedic, plastics, endoscopic/laparoscopic, urology, and endocrine cases
- Work collaboratively within a Phase I PACU team in an outpatient ambulatory surgery environment
- First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply
- Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
- Requested time off must be 5 days or less, with no RTO permitted during the first 2 weeks of the assignment
- Previous NYU Langone permanent staff must wait one year before returning as a traveler
- Employee parking available at no cost, with street parking also accessible
