Description

American Traveler is seeking an ER RN for a night shift assignment requiring an Ohio or compact RN license and at least 1.5 years of Emergency Department experience.

Details

  • Work in the Emergency Department of a hospital setting
  • General Emergency Department serving combined adult and pediatric patients
  • Facility is a STEMI Certified and Stroke Certified center
  • Night shift schedule with 3x12 hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:00
  • 13 or 18 week winter contract options available
  • Required to work every other weekend and every other holiday
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Floating required to other units or campuses within the health system at facility discretion, including high-risk respiratory/COVID units
  • Facility reserves the right to cancel up to 2 shifts per 13-week contract due to low census

Requirements

  • Active Ohio RN license or compact license required
  • Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC, and CPI/AVADE/Calm Every Storm
  • NIHSS certification preferred
  • BSN or Associate Degree in Nursing required
  • Minimum of 1.5 years of Emergency Department experience required
  • Minimum of 2 years of RN experience required
  • Experience with 1:4 patient ratios
  • Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, starting and maintaining IVs, cardiac monitoring, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, triage, isolation precautions/PPE, and procedural sedation administration/monitoring
  • Preferred skills include arterial line management, central line care/management, BiPAP/CPAP management, care of ventilated patients, interpretation of ABGs, care of pediatric head injury and near drowning cases, spinal cord injury, and ortho trauma
  • Candidates with any past license disciplinary action will not be accepted
  • Lab work and EKG/Dysrhythmia exam must be completed within 72 hours of signing contract

Additional Information

  • Provide emergency nursing care across a combined adult and pediatric patient population
  • Manage cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and emergency response as needed
  • Perform triage and maintain isolation precautions/PPE standards
  • Maximum of 14 days RTO allowed per contract, with no schedule requests or RTO negotiable after an offer is made
  • Local candidates are not accepted; local radius is 50 miles
  • Previous PERM/PRN staff or prior agency employees not extended due to tenure must wait 6 months before reapplying as a traveler, subject to facility rehire approval
  • First-time travelers are not preferred for this role
  • References are not required for consideration
