Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a night shift position requiring 1 year of ICU experience and a compact or ID RN license.
Details
- Work in a 10-bed Intensive Care Unit within an acute care hospital setting
- Care for patients with heart failure, respiratory failure, sepsis, GI bleeds, strokes (TPA), post-code, and post-surgical complications
- CRRT patients are not assigned to travelers
- Maintain a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Titrate drips including Propofol, Levophed, Dobutamine, vasopressin, Fentanyl, Epinephrine, and Diltiazem
- RNs are required to read telemetry strips using Spacelabs monitoring (no dedicated tele techs)
- Charge nurse does not carry a patient assignment; Admin Supervisor and Crisis nurse available on-site 24/7
- One CNA per shift supports the unit
- Hospitalist on-site 24/7 and Intensivist available via telehealth 24/7
- Respiratory Therapists in the ICU 24/7 with vents, high flow, and BiPAP equipment
- Uses EPIC EMR
- 12-hour night shifts, 7p-7a
- Weekend rotation as needed, aiming for every other weekend
- Holiday coverage required if needed
- No call or standby requirements
- Floating required to Tele unit (aiming for 1:3 ratio, may take full assignment) and to Meridian and Boise ICUs
- First to float within the unit
- 1 to 2 shifts of unit-specific orientation depending on experience
- No blocked scheduling or special scheduling requests accommodated
Requirements
- Active RN license (state-issued or compact) required, active at time of consideration
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum 1 year of ICU experience required
- Must be a strong team player
- Experience with EPIC EMR
- Copy of driver's license required for consideration
- Two professional references required: one supervisor reference from within the last 12 months worked, and one peer or supervisor reference from within the last 3 years worked, including dates of employment and rehire eligibility
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care in a high-acuity ICU setting including ventilated and critically ill patients
- Work alongside a dedicated care team including on-site hospitalists, telehealth intensivists, and 24/7 respiratory therapy support
- Scrub color is flexible as long as attire is clean and professional
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Permanent employees must be separated from employment for at least one year before applying for a travel assignment
- Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible for this position
