Description

American Traveler is hiring a Travel RN for Labor & Delivery requiring 2+ years of recent L&D experience and an active UT or compact RN license.

Details

  • Work in the Labor & Delivery unit of a hospital's Women's Pavilion
  • Unit includes 15 labor rooms, a 3-bed triage bay, and 2 ORs, staffed by approximately 45 team members
  • Patient ratios are 1:1 for laboring patients and 1:2 or 1:3 for early labor, antepartum, and triage patients
  • Uses electronic fetal monitors, telemetry fetal monitoring, Monica Novii wireless fetal monitoring, Alaris IV pumps, Belmont rapid infusers, Ranger blood and fluid warming systems, a vein finder device, and the Hugs infant security system
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Night shift schedule from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM over a 12-week assignment
  • Rotating weekends required, approximately 4 weekend shifts per month
  • Floating to Postpartum required

Requirements

  • Active RN license (UT or compact) currently in hand
  • Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery experience in an acute care hospital setting
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP (Advanced 9th Edition), and Intermediate or Advanced AWHONN Fetal Monitoring (or NCCEFM)
  • Experience with fetal monitoring interpretation required
  • Experience circulating Cesarean sections required
  • Experience managing high-risk OB patients and obstetric emergencies required
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • US SSN and DOB required for consideration (Canadian SSN not accepted)
  • One professional reference required
  • No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months

Additional Information

  • Independently manage laboring patients, high-risk pregnancies, labor induction and augmentation, fetal monitoring, vaginal deliveries, and immediate postpartum care
  • Assist with cesarean sections and obstetric emergencies
  • Collaborate with physicians, midwives, anesthesia, NICU, and postpartum teams
  • Preferred experience includes high-risk obstetrics, magnesium sulfate administration, insulin drips, multiple gestation pregnancies, preeclampsia management, shoulder dystocia, postpartum hemorrhage management, and cesarean sections
  • Preferred skills include operative vaginal deliveries (vacuum/forceps), antepartum patient care, external cephalic versions, cerclages, and NICU or newborn stabilization experience
  • Typical procedures on the unit include vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, operative vaginal deliveries, external cephalic versions, cerclage placement/removal, iron infusions, labor inductions/augmentations, and postpartum/newborn recovery
  • Ideal candidates are team-oriented, adaptable, self-directed, calm under pressure, and patient-centered
  • Hospital-laundered scrubs are provided each shift
  • Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; local candidates will not be considered
