Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Operating Room position requiring 2+ years of OR circulating experience and a strong orthopedic background.

Details

• Work in a Level I Trauma Center's Operating Room department across 5N and 2W units, totaling 33 OR suites
• High-volume surgical setting averaging 80-120 cases per day
• Broad service line exposure including Ortho (major joints, spines, sports med, trauma), Neuro (cranies & spines), Xi Robotics (Surgical Onc, Urology, GYN), Bariatrics, ENT (head & neck free flaps, reconstruction, basic ENT), and Ophthalmology (retina, cataracts, oculoplastics)
• Uses EPIC OP-Time EMR
• Rotating day/afternoon shifts on a 2-8's/2-12's schedule (12s: 6:30a-7p or 9a-9:30p/10:30a-11p; 8s: 6:30a-3p or starting at 9a, 10:30a, or 2:30p)
• Occasional weekend shifts required, scheduled in 12-hour blocks (6:30a-7p or 10:30a-11p)
• Weekly on-call requirement, with 20-30 hours of standby call expected within a 4-week period
• Call response time of 30 minutes required
• Floating limited to between 5N and 2W units based on experience
• OR Techs are utilized on the unit, though this position is specifically for RNs

Requirements

• Active WV or compact RN license required
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of OR nursing experience required
• BSN not required for this position
• Strong orthopedic surgical background required
• Must be able to circulate independently and take call as required
• Scrubbing not required for this role
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius from the facility to qualify for travel candidacy

Additional Information

• Provide independent circulating support across a wide range of surgical service lines in a high-acuity, high-volume OR
• Work alongside a 24/7 Charge Nurse, though travelers are not placed in this role
• Unit-specific orientation provided, totaling 2-3 shifts, including EPIC training
• Scrubs are provided by the facility
• Basic OR equipment used includes Bovie machines, forced air warmers, Neptune suction, drill consoles, Xi Robotics, Ligasure, and Argon Beam
• Holiday call requirements are open for discussion
• Previous WVU Medicine travelers must have a 2-year break before reapplying, and cumulative traveler experience within the WVU system cannot exceed one year without a subsequent 2-year break
• Former permanent staff are not eligible to return as travelers
