Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Surgical Observation unit specializing in women's oncology surgical care, requiring a TN or compact RN license.

Details

• Surgical Observation unit within a hospital setting, 30-bed capacity
• Patient population mainly women's oncology surgical observation patients with a 24-hour or less length of stay, including hysterectomy, mastectomy, lumpectomy, reconstruction, and thyroid cancer surgery patients
• Unit also cares for a general medical/surgical patient population
• Serves young adult through late adult patients (ages 18-60+)
• Nurse to patient ratio of 1:6
• Core staffing includes RNs, LPNs, PCTs, and Nurse Interns, with RN assuming full responsibility for patients on each team
• Night shift schedule from 18:45-07:15
• 13-week assignment length
• May float to different units or facilities within a 35-mile radius based on staffing needs, patient census, and acuity, with advance notice given before scheduled shifts

Requirements

• Active TN or compact RN license required
• BLS certification (AHA) required
• Successful completion of a proctored rhythm test required
• Minimum 1 year of experience required
• Nursys license verification required within 30 days prior to start
• Current license and primary source verification required within 30 days prior to start
• US Social Security Number and US home address required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide skilled nursing care to prevent and identify early surgical complications and deliver patient education specific to cancer surgery diagnoses
• Support patients and families emotionally and physically through difficult surgeries and diagnoses
• Clinical team interview required prior to consideration for this position
• Covid vaccination is not required
• Radius rule applies allowing local candidates at a reduced rate, with mileage varying by state
• Candidates should begin discussing extension with their manager approximately 45 days before assignment end date
• Only one submission permitted per candidate system-wide across Ascension positions
