Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring at least 1 year of experience and a TN or compact RN license.

Details

• Post-surgical Med/Surg unit with 32 beds
• Cares for general surgery patients including bowel obstruction, wound infection, GI cancers, and morbid obesity cases
• Also receives overflow medical and surgical patients from throughout the hospital
• Patients must be hemodynamically stable and not require mechanical ventilation
• Serves patients ages 18 through late adulthood
• Nurse to patient ratio of 1:6
• Staffing plan includes RNs, LPNs, PCTs, and Nurse Interns, with the RN holding full responsibility for team patients
• Night shift schedule from 18:45 to 07:15
• 13-week assignment length
• May be required to float to other units or facilities within a 35-mile radius based on staffing needs, with advance notice given

Requirements

• Active TN or compact RN license required
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• BLS certification required (must be AHA)
• Successful completion of a proctored rhythm test required
• Current license and primary source verification (Nursys) required within 30 days prior to start
• Must possess a US Social Security Number and provide a US home address

• Provide post-operative surgical nursing care within a collaborative unit known for strong teamwork and communication
• Work closely with surgical residents who help cover surgeons around the clock
• Clinical team interview required prior to placement
• Radius rule applies, allowing local candidates at a reduced rate depending on location
• Candidates should discuss assignment extensions with their manager about 45 days before the end date
