Description
American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Med/Surg Float Pool position requiring an AZ or Compact RN license and at least 1 year of ICU experience
Details
- Float pool covering ICU, MedSurg Tele, and PCU units across two campuses, including inpatients holding in the ED
- Patient population includes geriatric and ortho patients as well as post-procedural cardiac cath and CABG patients
- Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4 in PCU and 1:5-6 in MedSurg Tele
- Uses Cerner EMR
- Works 12-hour day shifts on a 7a-7p schedule with every other weekend required
- Designated as first to float within the unit
- Required to work 2 of 3 major holidays
- On-call/standby coverage required during periods of excess staffing
- Shift assignments communicated via text message approximately 2 hours prior to start time
- Travel time between campuses is approximately 20-25 minutes
Requirements
- Active AZ or Compact RN license required
- BLS and ACLS certification required
- Minimum 1 year of ICU experience required
- Must be comfortable managing titratable drips including Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitro, Dopamine, Dobutamine, and Insulin
- Must be able to interpret telemetry strips
- Must pass a dysrhythmia exam within two attempts prior to signing contract
- Copy of driver's license required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care across ICU, MedSurg Tele, and PCU units, including drip titration and telemetry strip interpretation
- Nurse aides utilized across all units for patient care support
- Each unit has a dedicated charge nurse who does not take patient assignments
- Unit orientation includes 8 hours of general hospital orientation plus 12-hour shifts at West MedTele and PCU
- Solid color professional scrubs currently required, transitioning to navy scrubs
- Holiday coverage included as part of the permanent staff rotation
- Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
- Candidates may not have been employed full time, part time, or PRN with any CommonSpirit-associated facility, including CHI or Dignity, within the past year
