Description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a 13-week night shift acute care assignment covering adult, pediatric, and Level III NICU patients.

Details

  • Acute care inpatient setting across adult, pediatric, and Level III NICU floors
  • RTs covering pediatric floors will also cover adults, while RTs covering adult floors will not cover peds
  • Handles approximately 36-42 treatments per 12-hour shift or 12-14 every 4 hours
  • Manages RT equipment, treatments, transport, and ABGs; does not perform EKGs
  • Travelers will only assist with intubation, not perform independently
  • Utilizes Draeger vents for adults and Servo U vents for peds
  • Additional equipment includes V60 BiPAPs, Vapotherm high flow, Optiflow, Philips Cough Assist, ResMed home CPAP, HillRom Vest machines, and Hill-Rom Metaneb
  • EPIC EMR used
  • Night shift, 7p-7a schedule
  • Every other weekend required
  • May float to Meridian Medical Center and Nampa Medical Center
  • No call or standby call requirements
  • Team typically includes 15-20 RTs on days and 10-12 on nights with a Lead Therapist on each shift

Requirements

  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience required if RRT, or 3-5 years if CRT
  • RRT preferred, CRT accepted with sufficient experience
  • Active BLS required for all patient populations
  • ACLS required for adult patients
  • PALS required for pediatric patients
  • NRP required for NICU coverage
  • NAVA (naturally adjusted ventilatory assist) experience on Servo vents required for NICU assignments
  • License required if applicable
  • EPIC EMR experience preferred
  • Driver's license required for consideration
  • Two professional references required: one supervisor reference from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor reference from within the last 3 years worked, including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire

Additional Information

  • First-time travelers will be considered
  • Hospitalist and intensivist coverage available in-house 24/7
  • Lead Therapist on each shift covers the ED, manages daily staffing, and serves as a resource; Manager and Supervisor also available during the day
  • Unit/department specific orientation typically consists of 2-3 shifts depending on coverage areas (adult, peds, NICU, adult ICU)
  • Any scrub color accepted as long as clean and professional
  • Required to work if scheduled during a holiday
  • Scheduler creates the schedule; blocked scheduling or special scheduling requests are not accommodated
  • Overtime may be available
  • Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible
  • Permanent employees must be separated from employment for at least one year before applying for a travel assignment
