Description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (CRT/RRT) for a night shift acute care position requiring NICU experience and a minimum of 1 year of respiratory therapy experience

Details

• Acute care hospital setting within a Level III trauma facility
• Respiratory Therapy department covering inpatient and ER areas including ICU, stepdown, MedSurg, a small Peds unit, and Level III NICU
• Patient population ranges from NICU to geriatrics
• Up to 30 treatments per shift depending on seasonal demand
• Uses Drager vents, Cervo-NICU, Hamilton transport vent, Vapotherm, and Philips V60/V30 equipment
• EPIC EMR used
• Night shift schedule, 7p-7a, 12-hour shifts
• Self-scheduling available with block scheduling option
• Weekend coverage required every other weekend
• First to float among staff, covering ICU, floors, NICU, and ER as needed
• Low-census call requirement per contract
• Required to attend department meetings once monthly

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of respiratory therapy experience required
• NICU experience required
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
• CRT or RRT certification via NBRC required
• STABLE and NRP certifications required for NICU or pediatric patient care
• License required if applicable
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration
• Two professional references required, including one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, with employment dates and rehire eligibility noted

Additional Information

• Job duties include ABG draws and analysis, breathing treatments, BiPAP, CPAP, ventilator management, and assisting with bedside bronchoscopy
• Assists with intubation and LMA placement but is not required to intubate independently
• EKGs are not performed by respiratory therapists in this role
• A team lead or charge therapist is present on every shift, and travelers may serve as charge based on experience and willingness
• Never the sole respiratory therapist in-house
• Any color scrubs permitted
• One week of unit-specific orientation provided based on experience level
• May be required to work holidays based on department need
• First-time travelers will be considered
• Former permanent employees must wait one year before returning as travel staff
• Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility, as local candidates are not accepted for this position
