Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a night shift position requiring 2+ years of ICU experience and NC or compact RN licensure.

Details

• 16-bed ICU within a 96-bed teaching hospital that is a primary stroke center
• Average daily census of 10 patients with MICU-type diagnoses including ARDS, sepsis, COPD, DKA, and stroke
• RN to patient ratio of 2:1 for ICU patients and 3:1 for IMC patients
• CNA support typically 1, sometimes 2 per shift
• 12-hour night shift schedule (1900-0700) at 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend (EOW) rotation required
• No on-call or call-back requirements
• Floating required to Med Surg (4:1 ratio) or ED as a resource without direct assignment
• EPIC EMR used

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
• Minimum 12 months of core experience in unit specialty within the last year
• Skilled in arterial line management, vasoactive medication titration, ventilator management and weaning, and chest tube management
• Experience with EPIC EMR preferred
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
• At least 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

• 24/7 support available from RT, hospitalists, and intensivists
• Charge nurse, resource nurse, and phlebotomy support available on the unit
• Unit-specific equipment includes Bair Hugger, Verathon Bladder Scanner, and Blanketrol machine
• Orientation includes facility-wide NEO plus 2 days of departmental orientation
• Royal blue scrubs required
• Free parking provided
• Travelers will work approximately 75% of holidays
• First-time travelers considered with strong ICU experience
• Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible
• Previous employees must have been separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year after working a permanent position
