Description
American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with critical care experience for a day shift position at a Level I Trauma teaching hospital.
Details
- Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated teaching hospital setting
- Adult critical care units including BPICU, SICU, MICU, and NSICU
- Patient population is primarily adult with a small pediatric caseload
- Busy ED with ECLS transfers
- Care of trauma and burn patients with complex medical and neurological conditions
- High volume of tracheostomy and spinal cord injury patients
- Complex sleep disordered breathing patient population
- Uses Epic charting system
- Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 0630-1800
- Weekend rotation required every other weekend
- No on-call requirements
- No floating required outside of unit
Requirements
- Active RRT credential and WA state license required (license required if applicable)
- Minimum 2 years of experience required
- Critical care experience within the last 12 months required
- Level I Trauma experience preferred
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Pediatric experience preferred but not required; willing to train
- Epic charting experience required
- BLS certification required
- ACLS, NRP, and PALS certifications preferred
- Experience with Cough Assist/MIE and LP/LPV required
- Skills in vent management, oxygen therapy, and monitoring required
- Experience with adult ICU and trauma patients required
Additional Information
- Provide respiratory care to critically ill adult trauma, burn, and neurologically complex patients
- Perform ventilator management, weaning, and troubleshooting of high-pressure alarms
- Perform airway management including intubation assist, extubation, and suctioning
- Conduct arterial blood gas draws and interpretation
- Manage tracheostomy care and pulmonary hygiene procedures
- Administer nebulizer treatments and medication delivery via various systems
- Work within a team supporting a high-acuity trauma and critical care population
- First-time travelers are accepted for this role
- Prior facility staff must have a minimum 18-month separation before returning as a travel clinician
- Minimal RTO accommodated, with no time off approved during the first two weeks of the assignment
- Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate with no radius restriction
- Scrubs may be any solid color; light blue scrubs also provided for the unit
- COVID vaccination and booster required with no exceptions
