Description

American Traveler is hiring an Oncology Chemo Certified RN for a Med/Surg oncology infusion role requiring chemo certification and MN licensure.

Details

  • Oncology infusion unit within a short-term acute care, Magnet-designated, teaching hospital with Level III trauma status
  • Floats between three affiliated hospitals within the health system as needed
  • Patient ratio of 1:6
  • Day shift schedule, 4x10-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM
  • No weekend requirements
  • No on-call requirements
  • Uses Epic/Excellian charting system
  • Open to accommodating block scheduling requests

Requirements

  • Active MN RN license required (pending license accepted)
  • BLS and Chemotherapy certification (ONS/ONCC) required
  • OCN certification preferred
  • Minimum 1 year of recent experience in oncology specialty required
  • 2 years of overall RN experience preferred
  • Previous charge nurse experience preferred
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Epic/Excellian charting experience required
  • Skilled in IV therapy, infusions, port access and management, central line care, and PICC line care
  • Experience administering chemotherapy via continuous infusion and IV push
  • Knowledge of biotherapy, immunotherapy, and cytotoxic spill management
  • Ability to recognize and manage chemotherapy side effects and oncologic emergencies such as anaphylaxis and extravasation
  • Experience caring for patients with various cancer diagnoses including breast, lung, colorectal, and blood-related cancers
  • Proficient in neutropenic precautions, isolation/PPE protocols, and phlebotomy
  • At time of consideration, must provide date of birth, SSN, certification copies, Nursys verification, RTO dates, and one supervisor reference

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care in inpatient and outpatient oncology infusion settings
  • Administer chemotherapy, biotherapy, and supportive medications while monitoring for complications
  • Manage central lines, PICC lines, and ports, including blood draws and infusion pump operation
  • Navy blue scrubs required
  • Candidates must complete required pre-start training modules prior to starting the assignment
  • Local candidates are not accepted; candidates must reside at least 100 miles from the facility
  • Returning travelers must have at least a 3-month gap since their last shift worked in a perm staff or per diem role at this health system
  • RTO should ideally not exceed 5 days during the assignment
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Facility does not provide references to travelers post-assignment or to former perm employees
