Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Intermediate Care/Stepdown position requiring active IL licensure and telemetry/cardiac monitoring skills.
Details
- Work in the IMC (Intermediate Care/Stepdown) unit of an acute care hospital
- Cardiac, neuro, and post-surgical patient population requiring telemetry monitoring
- Patient ratio of 1:4
- Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours (6:45 AM - 7:15 PM)
- Required to work every other weekend
- No on-call requirements
- Floating required within the hospital or to nearby affiliate facilities as needed
- Cerner charting system used
Requirements
- Active IL RN license required and in hand at time of consideration
- Current certifications required: BLS and NIHSS (ACLS preferred)
- AHA and Red Cross certifications accepted; RQI cards not accepted
- Minimum 1 year of recent experience required
- Prior experience in Telemetry, Neuro Stepdown, or PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown settings required
- Skilled in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, telemetry monitoring, and use of rapid response teams
- Experience with cardiovascular care including pre/post cardiac cath, cardiac surgery, sheath removal, and TR band
- Experience with IV therapy and phlebotomy including central line, PICC line, arterial line, and port management
- Experience managing cardiac and vasoactive drips (titration required)
- Experience with respiratory care including ventilator management, chest tubes, BiPAP/CPAP, and tracheostomy care
- Experience with neurological/psychiatric cases including craniotomy, CVA, and traumatic brain injury
- Experience with orthopedic cases including ortho trauma and total joint replacements
- Experience with wound care, wound vac, and isolation precautions
- Feeding tube care and management experience required
- Pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure care experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Cerner experience preferred
- Teaching hospital and Level I trauma center experience preferred
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to a stepdown/IMC patient population with complex cardiac, neuro, and post-surgical needs
- Located within a Level I trauma center and Magnet-designated facility with 562 staffed beds
- Scrub color requirement: any solid color
- Parking permit required at no cost, arranged during orientation
- Local candidates accepted with no radius restriction
- Previous permanent or PRN employees of the facility must be separated for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler
- RTO of up to 5 non-holiday days may be auto-approved; additional time off requires facility approval
- Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
- Travel pairs are not accepted at this facility
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
