Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Bone Marrow Transplant unit requiring inpatient hematology oncology experience and chemotherapy certification.
Details
- Inpatient oncology and BMT unit with mixed acuity PCU and Medical-Surgical (MS) patient population
- Night shift, 3x12 hour shifts (7:00 PM-7:30 AM)
- 16-week assignment
- Patient population includes ALL, AML, amyloidosis, aplastic anemia, chronic leukemia, CLL, CML, Hodgkin's and Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, multiple myeloma, MDS, and myeloproliferative disorders
- Performs autologous, syngeneic, and allogeneic stem cell transplants, as well as CAR-T therapy
- Utilizes telemetry monitoring, central line and PICC line management, blood product administration, and chemotherapy administration
- EPIC EMR experience required
Requirements
- Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
- BLS and ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Certification required; ACLS preferred
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience with at least 1 year of current hematology oncology experience within the past 3 years
- Skills required include IV therapy/infusions, port access and management, central line care, blood product administration, and chemotherapy administration
- Ability to interpret dysrhythmias and manage oncologic emergencies such as sepsis
- Nursing education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
- 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a manager/director and the second from a manager/director or charge RN; coworker references not accepted
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care for oncology and BMT patients, including symptom management for nausea/vomiting and monitoring for graft rejection and graft-versus-host disease
- Utilizes isolation precautions and PPE for immunocompromised patient care
- Willingness to learn and grow nursing practice welcomed; prior travel experience not required
- RTO must be submitted with contract and limited to 7 days or less
- Locals accepted at the same rate
- Former employees eligible for travel assignment after 6 months away from the facility
- Current employees of the health system are ineligible for travel assignments at any of its Ohio hospital locations
- Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing contract due to strict compliance timelines

Cons
Scheduled every weekend, floated for the first 6 weeks of contract every shift. Not traveler friendly even though they say they are. Staff are treated well not travelers.
