Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg-Oncology RN for a BMT unit night shift assignment requiring hematology oncology experience and ONS chemotherapy certification.

Details

• Hospital-based Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) unit combining PCU and Med/Surg acuity levels
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:30, with potential for a 12D/N rotating schedule based on department needs
• Cares for patients with leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma, myelodysplastic syndrome, myeloproliferative disorders, aplastic anemia, and amyloidosis
• Manages autologous, syngeneic, and allogeneic stem cell transplant patients as well as CAR-T therapy recipients
• Utilizes telemetry monitoring, central lines, PICC lines, feeding tubes, and blood product administration
• Performs chemotherapy administration and central line sterile dressing changes
• Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active OH RN license or multistate compact license required at time of consideration
• BLS certification required; ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy certification required; ACLS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience with at least 1 year of inpatient hematology oncology experience within the past 3 years
• Nursing education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Skilled in telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
• Experience with central line blood draws, PICC line management, and port access/care required
• Experience recognizing and communicating abnormal lab values and managing oncologic emergencies such as sepsis
• Skilled in symptom management including nausea and vomiting related to chemotherapy
• Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager, director, or supervisor; a Charge RN may serve as the second reference; coworker references not accepted

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care for BMT and inpatient oncology patients, including graft rejection and graft-versus-host disease management
• Responsible for isolation precautions and proper PPE use
• Utilize rapid response teams as needed for patient deterioration
• Willingness to learn and grow nursing practice in a specialized oncology setting is valued
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply

• Former employees eligible for travel assignment after 6 months away from the facility
• Current employees of the health system are ineligible for travel positions at this location
• RTO must be requested and built into the contract at time of submission, limited to 7 days or less
• Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting requirements promptly after signing the contract
