Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift position requiring a VA or compact RN license and at least one year of relevant experience.
Details
- 27-bed General Medicine Unit caring for patients with respiratory, endocrine, cardiac, immune/infectious disease, and renal conditions
- Night shift, 4x12-hour shifts (19:00-7:00)
- Every other weekend required
- Typical patient ratio of 1:5
- Must float within scope of practice per facility policy
- Epic EMR experience required
Requirements
- Active RN license (VA or Compact) required; pending license accepted if in-hand by the Wednesday before start date
- BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
- Minimum 1 year of relevant RN experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Charge nurse experience preferred
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Trauma Level I hospital experience preferred
- BSN preferred
- Epic charting system experience required
- Clinical skills required include chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac), tracheostomy care, heparin protocols, PCA management, cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, isolation precautions/PPE, wound care/wound vac, IV insulin protocols, insulin drip titration, and renal failure management
Additional Information
- Must work 2 of the 3 winter holidays
- Maximum of 40 hours RTO per 13-week contract, with all time off disclosed at submission
- Block scheduling cannot be accommodated
- Travelers must have at least 1 year of separation from previous UVA Health employment as permanent staff or internal travelers, with leadership approval required
- External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days at the facility and are not eligible to return once this limit is reached
- No radius restriction applies to this unit
