Description
American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a float pool position requiring VA or compact RN license and Epic experience.
Details
- Float pool position covering various med/surg and telemetry units within acute care nursing
- Potential float assignments include Geriatric/Palliative Care, Orthopedics & Trauma, Medicine, Surgical, Neurology, Epilepsy & Stroke, Acute Cardiology, Neurosurgery, Vascular, Heme/Onc, Solid Organ Transplant, Thoracic Cardiovascular, Digestive Health, Acute Care Special Pathogens Unit (COVID), and ED Boarders
- Does not include critical care or intermediate care unit assignments
- Night shift, 4x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:00
- 13-week assignment length
- Can offer 36 or 48 hours per week
- Every other weekend and every other holiday required
- Block scheduling cannot be accommodated or guaranteed
- Uses Epic EMR
Requirements
- Active VA or compact RN license required, pending license accepted if in hand by the Wednesday before start date
- BLS certification required, ACLS preferred
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Epic charting system experience required
- Skilled in cardiac monitoring, emergency response, and interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Level 1 Trauma experience preferred
- BSN preferred
- Nursys verification required
Additional Information
- Must float within scope of practice across acute care units as needed based on staffing needs
- Must adhere to UVA's facility float policy
- Maximum 40 hours of RTO per 13-week contract, must be disclosed at time of consideration
- Any vacation time between sign date and start date must be disclosed in advance
- Specialty-specific modules completed during orientation, recorded in Workday
- Previous permanent staff or internal travelers require 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning
- External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days and are not eligible to return after reaching this limit
- A variety of clinical background experience is preferred though travel experience is not required
- First-time travelers may be considered given relevant experience
