Description

American Traveler is seeking a Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool RN with a DC RN license and strong PICU experience to float between NICU, PICU, and CVPICU units.

Details

  • Work within the Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool at a Magnet-designated, teaching, Level I trauma children's hospital with 320 staffed beds
  • Float between NICU, PICU, and CVPICU units based on facility needs, caring for patients of all ages
  • Patient ratios range from 1:1 to 1:2, with up to 1:3 when floating to NICU
  • 3x12-hour day (7:00-19:30) or night (19:00-7:30) shifts available
  • Every-other-weekend requirement with option for blocked weekend scheduling
  • No on-call requirements
  • Uses Cerner charting system

Requirements

  • Active DC RN license required, with pending license applications accepted (must apply within 24-48 hours of signing, active license required before start)
  • Compact or state RN license required for MD/VA
  • Minimum 2 years of recent PICU or CVPICU experience required; 3 years preferred
  • Some NICU/CICU experience highly preferred due to floating expectations
  • Current BLS and PALS certifications required
  • Cerner charting system experience required
  • Teaching hospital and Level I trauma experience preferred
  • Travel nursing experience required
  • Prior critical care skills preferred including ventilator management, ECMO, CRRT, central line management, and interpretation/management of dysrhythmias

Additional Information

  • Provide critical care nursing to pediatric patients across NICU, PICU, and CVPICU settings, managing complex cases including respiratory, cardiovascular, renal, neurologic, and oncologic conditions
  • Scrubs may be any color as long as they are child-friendly and free of logos
  • Holiday coverage required every other holiday, with one holiday guaranteed based on preference
  • Maximum RTO of 7 days; a full week off requires extending the assignment by one week to make up missed shifts
  • No RTO accepted after the initial offer
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates accepted with no mileage restriction at the same bill rate
  • Returning travelers must have been separated from the facility for at least 1 year
