Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced OR Registered Nurse for a day-shift scrub/circulator role requiring ophthalmology proficiency and a WV or compact RN license.

Details

• Acute care hospital operating room with 6 surgical suites averaging 22 cases per day
• Common procedures include scleral buckle, vitrectomy, corneal transplants, cataracts, minor general surgery, minor spine stabilization, spinal cord stimulators, ENT, and dental cases
• Day shift Monday through Friday, scheduled 0645-1515 with possible extension until cases are completed
• No self-scheduling available
• Call required including a minimum of one weekday call shift per week, up to every other weekend, and holiday rotation with a 30-minute response time
• May be required to float to other surgical departments
• Uses EPIC EMR
• 40 hours per week over a 13-week assignment

Requirements

• Active WV or compact RN license required
• BLS certification (AHA) required
• Minimum 2 years experience as an OR RN/ORT required
• Ophthalmology experience required, including ability to independently perform cataract and cornea procedures
• Must be proficient in both scrub and circulator roles for ambulatory surgery procedures

Additional Information

• Provides scrub and circulator support for a variety of surgical procedures
• Charge nurse/house supervisor support available, except within the One Day Surgery Building
• Scrubs are provided
• Orientation includes general hospital orientation followed by unit-specific orientation with OR staff
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius from the facility per driver's license address; no local candidates accepted
• Previous perm employees must have a 2-year break before returning as a traveler
• Travelers are limited to 1 cumulative year of work within the WVU system before requiring a 2-year break
