Description

American Traveler is seeking a High Risk Labor & Delivery RN for a night shift travel assignment requiring an active CA RN license and 2 years of high-risk L&D experience.

Details

• Work in a high-risk Labor & Delivery unit within an acute care hospital setting
• Facility averages 200-300 births per month
• Night shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:30
• Weekend rotation required with no on-call responsibilities
• Patient ratios of 1:1-2 for labor patients and 1:3 for antepartum patients
• Epic EMR system used for charting
• Trauma Level II facility experience required

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required
• Current certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate, and C-EFM
• Minimum 2 years of high-risk Labor & Delivery experience required
• Trauma Level II hospital experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Must pass an on-site EKG competency test with a minimum score of 80%
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Two supervisor references obtained within the past year required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive nursing care including assessment, care coordination, and evaluation for high-risk L&D patients
• Develop and implement individualized care plans addressing psychological, sociocultural, spiritual, and lifestyle factors
• Perform skilled procedures including IV therapy, blood product administration, central line maintenance, and starting/maintaining IVs
• Assist with high-risk and vaginal deliveries, circulate and scrub for C-sections, and manage hemorrhage/shock situations
• Utilize external and internal fetal monitoring, including IUPC placement and calibration
• Administer medications such as Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, antihypertensives, and insulin drips
• Provide antepartum, postpartum, and newborn care including NST/OCT testing, lactation support, and newborn assessments
• Support pain management interventions including epidural anesthesia and PCA use
• Foster collaborative relationships with patients, families, physicians, and healthcare team members through effective communication
• Holiday coverage required for New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day, with only one holiday request approved per contract
• Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract
• Local candidates accepted at local rate within a 50-mile radius
• Returning staff must have a minimum 1-year separation to be eligible to return as a traveler
